Formed in 1977, Extreme Heat has spent nearly five decades bringing its unmistakable collision of funk, soul, jazz and rock & roll to Texas stages. They cut their teeth in legendary Austin rooms including the Armadillo World Headquarters, Liberty Lunch, Steamboat, Antone’s and The Saxon Pub, becoming part of the musical fabric of the city along the way. The band’s Soulstice was selected by the late Austin Chronicle music writer Margaret Moser as one of her top records of 2013, but accolades only tell part of the story. Extreme Heat is a live band through and through—horns, grooves, deep-pocket funk and the kind of old-school energy that makes sitting still nearly impossible.
