Upstairs is the hall; downstairs the speakeasy runs late-night DJ dance parties, billiards, darts and five bars, with gourmet personal pizzas from the kitchen. Doors open at 8 PM Thursday, Friday and Saturday, with Friday and Saturday running to 2 AM. Be aware the rating is the weakest here, 3.7, and it rests on only 55 reviews, so the score is unsettled rather than proven. Go for the room and the late hours.
2. RiverView Vinyl
A new and used record shop at 409 Fifth Street that also books ticketed shows, sold at 12 dollars in advance or 15 at the door. Advance tickets are bought in person at the shop during normal business hours, which is worth planning around: the store is closed Monday, opens at noon Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday, and at 10 AM Friday and Saturday. The shop has posted that it closes if a show weekend gets snow, so check before driving in. 3. Fratelli Italian Kitchen and Wine Bar
The sit-down option: an Italian kitchen and wine bar at 1200 Commerce Street that lists Live Jazz Nights on its events calendar alongside a No. 7 rooftop bar. Time your arrival for the bar and lounge pizza happy hour, 4:30 to 6 PM, or half-price wine bottles from 4:30 to 9 PM in the main dining room and bar. Hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 4:30 to 10 PM, closed Sunday and Monday. Reviewers rate it 4.1 from 237 reviews, a reasonably settled score, with the recurring complaint being drink prices: one diner cited 18 dollars for a blackberry lemoncello martini.
4. Hill City Pub
Included with a caveat.
