Best Steakhouses in Lynchburg

Lynchburg, Virginia — updated August 21, 2026

Four Lynchburg steakhouses, ordered by how well the reviews hold up.

Listings verified

Four places in Lynchburg do steak properly, and they are unusually different from one another: a downtown steakhouse, a mountain grill, an American grille in a restored warehouse and a Japanese steakhouse. There is no chain among them, which was not true of this guide a day ago.

1. William & Henry Steakhouse

4.7 across 348 reviews, on Church Street downtown. The most straightforwardly a steakhouse of the four and the one to book when the steak is the reason for the evening.

2. Fleming Mountain Grill

Also 4.7, across 459 reviews, out on Lee Jackson Highway. Same rating as William & Henry with a third more reviews behind it, which makes it marginally the better-proven of the two. A grill rather than a formal steakhouse, and the easier of the pair for an ordinary weeknight.

3. Shoemakers

4.4 across 420 reviews on Commerce Street, in the Craddock Terry building. An American grille with a serious steak list rather than a dedicated steakhouse, and the pick when not everyone at the table wants beef.

4. Koto Japanese Steak & Seafood House

4.1 across 615 reviews on Wards Road, and the deepest review history here. Hibachi rather than a chophouse, which is a different evening entirely — it is on this list because it is genuinely where a lot of Lynchburg goes for steak, not as a substitute for the three above.

What we left off

LongHorn Steakhouse was in the previous version, on a 3.7 from 27 reviews. It is a chain of several hundred locations and the rating was the worst of the four entries it sat alongside.
