The Cinema Program is pleased to host a screening of Amitabh Joshi’s documentary, “Have You Seen My Gods?” as a part of a Global Film Series at the Institute for Contemporary Art. Following the screening, documentary producer, Dr. Bibhakar Shakya and director, Amitabh Joshi, will be present to participate in an audience discussion and Q&A. Have You Seen My Gods? “Sparked by his grandmother’s ailing health, a filmmaker returns to Kathmandu, a city of vanished gods and fading rituals. When the Laxmi Narayan statue, stolen in the 1980s, resurfaces in a U.S. museum, its repatriation led by local activists becomes a path he follows through ritual, shrines, and the diaspora. The film becomes a lyrical elegy and a quiet act of resistance against colonial theft and cultural erasure.” About the Director Amitabh Joshi has an impressive career, serving as co-producer and co-cinematographer on the documentary feature “A Little Wisdom” which had its US Premiere at The SxSW film festival in 2018. “Tashi’s Turbine,” his first feature-length documentary film, has been screened at festivals worldwide, premiered on PBS’s The WORLD Channel, and is available for educational distribution through Docume
