The patties worth planning around are attached to other things: an all-day diner on South Dixie Highway, a Florida barbecue joint that smokes fish and brisket, and a wagyu-focused meat counter a few blocks south. What follows is ordered by how well each place answers the burger question and how settled its rating looks.
1. Howley's Restaurant
Howley's is the most proven burger stop in the city on the numbers: 4.5 stars from 4,465 reviews, which is a rating with enough volume behind it to trust. The lunch and dinner menu carries a full burger section rather than a single token patty, including the Big Mouth, the Patty Melt, the Angus Burger and a Bean Burger for anyone skipping beef; delivery listings put those in the high teens to around twenty dollars. It also keeps the longest hours here, 7am to 10pm Sunday through Thursday and 7am to midnight Friday and Saturday, so it covers both an early lunch and a late one. Breakfast runs all day alongside the burgers.
2. Tropical Smokehouse
Tropical Smokehouse puts burgers in its own description of itself, alongside smoked fish and smoked meat, which makes it the rare West Palm kitchen where the patty sits next to a smoker rather than a fryer. Plan around the schedule: it is closed Mondays and opens at 11:30am Tuesday through Sunday. 3. Palm Beach Meats
The thinnest evidence on this list, and worth saying so: 4.6 stars from 177 reviews is promising rather than settled. It earns a place because the kitchen is built on Australian wagyu, which shows up across the menu in items like the wagyu burrito, wagyu beef tapa and a classic wagyu hot dog. It opens at 10:30am every day of the week, and happy hour runs weekdays from 3pm to 6pm with 20 percent off appetizers, buy-one-get-one on select wines and beers, and a five-dollar wagyu Frito pie. Go for the beef program and the early opening.
