Every second Friday in 2026 come join the Charlottesville Astronomical Society for an astronomy presentation in the Education Building, with telescope observations afterwards, weather permitting. If you wish to attend, please RSVP to ivycreek@cvilleastro.com. RSVP the day before an event, if you can. Contacting CAS on the day of an event is unlikely to yield a reply, as we would be distracted / busy getting ready for the event, and may not see your email;-) If we receive no inquiries or the weather is overly cloudy, the entire event will be cancelled - with a notification posted here on the CAS calendar. In the winter months, though the presentation is at 7PM, telescope observations can begin as early as 5:30PM.Looking ahead, for 2027, we'll keep evening astronomy on the second Friday of each month until April. Then in May, we will start having the evening astronomy on the 4th Friday of each month. This is so that we do not have too many nights with a bright moon, especially in the summer "nebulae" season. In 2027, starting in May, there will be a bright moon early in the months that follow.
