November 16Halloween around Charlottesville
Halloween around Charlottesville is spread across the whole month. The libraries and museums run crafts, storytimes and sensory-friendly events for small children through October; the farms add haunted mazes and flashlight nights to their fall weekends; the wineries and breweries put on costume parties and themed music nights the weekend before the 31st; and the trick-or-treat events, from downtown merchants to the Lawn at UVA, land on the last few days of the month.
Places with Halloween events listed right now include Wintergreen Resort, The Scrappy Elephant and Central Library and others.
Haunted houses and scare nights
The scarier events are at the farms and a few venues, and they are usually ticketed and age-rated. Flashlight mazes and haunted trails run on Friday and Saturday nights in the second half of October. Family-friendly versions run earlier in the evening on the same nights.
